Spreading A Passion

We want to make Jesus look glorious in the life of our church, our community, our world. Take part in displaying Him through one of our ministries.

Blessing Store

The Blessing Store provides food for the needy people in our area. It is supported by contributions from individuals and groups, as well as food drives, and operates out of our Fellowship Hall on the third Saturday of each month. On any given month 40 to 50 bags of groceries are given away. Needs are also met throughout the month on an individual basis.

Prayer Shawls

Compassion and the love of knitting/crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry and spiritual practice which reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace, as well as in celebration and joy. Once the shaw is completed our parish nurse delivers them to those who have been prayed for in their time of need. The Prayer Shawls are given along with a prayer card. The shawls not only bring physical warmth and comfort but are also a reminder of the Congregation’s ongoing commitment of caring for one another.

Blood Drive

Every minute of every day, someone needs blood. That blood can only come from a volunteer donor. Once a year EUM sponsors a Blood Drive by the American Red Cross. Contact person is Evelyn Haney.

Lenten Project

Each year we do a special project during Lent that is over and above our planned giving. The support for this project is raised by special Lenten giving and the project is announced by the Missions Committee prior to the beginning of Lent. Some examples of past projects are camp scholarships for Handi*Camp with Handi*Vangelism; mosquito nets, water wells, and orphan assistance for Tenwek Community Health in Kenya; and Ranch Hope.

Boy Scouts

EUM is the sponsoring organization for Boy Scout Troop 59 and provides the meeting place for the troop and their activities. They meet in the youth room weekly on Thursday at 7:00pm. Contact person is Tom Branco.

Christmas Giving Tree

Each year Christmas tags are put on a Christmas tree in the narthex and our members purchase gifts for children who attend Kid’s Alley, an after-school and Saturday program for underprivileged children in Camden.

Parish Nurses

These are experienced registered nurses who are committed to leadership in promoting health and healing in our church. Our parish nurses promote wellness within the congregation, enhance the church’s outreach ministry, and strengthen the awareness of the connection between faith and health. Once a month they minister by doing blood pressure checks, blood sugar screening, encourage use of prayer, scripture and devotional materials as aids to healing, write articles for the bulletin and newsletter. Our Parish Nurses are Lynda Harrison and Monique Mihlebach.

Caring Hands

EUM women visiting EUM women. They visit those who are shut in or elderly. They may provide transportation to shop or doctor visits or sit with a loved one while a caregiver takes a break. They also will provide “goodies” and send cards.

Missionary Support

We take the Great Commission very seriously. We support a number of missionaries throughout the world as well as national and home missions. Our 2009 Mission Budget is $30,090.

Work Teams

For the past several years our youth and adults have gone to Mississippi to help rebuilt from Hurricane Katrina destruction. Last year working with Habitat for Humanity our group built an entire house from the ground up in one week. The groups usually make a trip during the summer months and a trip in the fall. This summer, however, there is a group of youth and adults going to Louisville, KY to work at The Mission House, a part of Edge Outreach. We have also had individual members of our congregation take mission trips to Russia, Romania, Panama, and Uganda. Our youth have worked with City Team in West Chester, PA and Urban Promise in Camden delivering meals to those in need. The ladies of our church fix bag lunches for Kids Alley.

And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. Matthew 19:29

"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" - Romans 10:14-15

"The world is my parish." - John Wesley

"Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can." - John Wesley
